Question

Cannot exit Inside-out utility

Mar 2, 2018 1:30PM PST

Hi, I hope someone out there can help as this is driving me nuts!
I have an Acer Aspire Es 15 laptop that I have recently installed an SSD with no issues.
Today I went into bios mode (out of curiosity) , InsydeH2o Setup Utility and I cannot exit it no matter what I try.
I have Googled it with no solution so far.
Please help.

Can you move around the menus in the BIOS?

Sometimes the exit seems hidden. I have one rig where the only hint is in the shading. I need to press "Esc" and "Y" to reboot. "Y" means "Yes". Of course, you can always press and hold the power button.

No luck so far.

Hi
I can move around most of the bios.
I have tried control alt delete and escape and y but with no change.
Any further advice gratefully received

When I try those means to exit the laptop will switch off then back on immediately to the bios page.
Thanks for your help so far

This usally means there is a stuck key
Mar 4, 2018 6:58AM PST

I did run across a few machines with stuck keys that would go to the BIOS. Since this is happening, nod to stuck key.

Or you really never powered off and you had the machine set to sleep when the power button is tapped. No problem. Press and hold the power button for much longer and it really powers down.

Stuck key

Hi
I have held down the power button for 10, 30 and 60 seconds all with the same result. No joy.
What do you mean by stuck key and how do I resolve this?
Kind regards

If this BIOS heads to the BIOS on a bad or missing HDD
Mar 4, 2018 8:41AM PST

You need to know that. I don't own this model so you have to lean on research.

As to stuck key, I unplug the keyboard for a test.

As to the missing Windows 10 USB or DVD, we make those on a Working PC with (google this) the Microsoft Media Creation Kit.

Re: exit BIOS

What I find in Google:
1. http://www.tomsguide.com/answers/id-3403241/exit-boot-menu.html says to press ctrl-alt-delete a few times
2. A few others (like http://www.tomsguide.com/answers/id-2970450/asus-laptop-stuck-utilities-option-boot-menu-save-exit-back.html ) say they can leave the BIOS setup, but it boots back into it due to a problem such as a bad hard disk.

What happens if you boot from a bootable disk or USB-stick (like your Windows install medium, a Linux disc or stick, your Windows recovery drive, a memtest86-disc).

Tried...

Hi
Thanks
I have tried the above links and others from Toms Guide with no luck.
I have also just removed my ssd and inserted an hdd from another laptop to see if that would boot but still no change.
I'm afraid I don't have a Windows recovery disk to try.
I guess I'm running out of options

Remove battery

I'm afraid there appears to be no ability to remove the battery, it's a sealed unit.
But thanks for the suggestion

I've replaced many of these "no ability to remove" batteries

I cheat. I google up a YouTube on the model plus "how to replace battery."

Hoorah!

Hoorah! I think it's sorted.
I wasn't able to remove the battery but you gave me confidence to dismantle my laptop as far as I could.
I managed to open the laptop and I also removed the ssd.
I tried rebooting without the ssd and this seemed to take me off the bios.
I reinstalled the ssd and a few more restarts and Bob's your uncle.
Thanks to everyone for all your suggestions along the way.
