Cannot download updates or files

Last Tuesday or Wednesday, I got an automatic update for Java 7 in system tray. I am with Comcast with their Norton Security Suite and Constant Guard. I clicked on "install" and Norton came up blocking it stating it was unsafe. I went to Help Center of Comcast and sent email. Have exchanged several with same person. Even tried online chat twice. Tried calling, but after being on hold for 20 minutes gave up.

Was told to uninstall Constant Guard and don't know why. They sent me links to do clean uninstall and reinstall stating that Constant Guard was the problem not Norton. I clicked on the links and got "page not found." I use Firefox 20. I also tried Google Chrome and IE 8 and got same error. "Page not found" or "server and page not found." In chat window, they sent me same links as in email and the links were broken on my end and theirs. They then told me to call Constant Guard and Norton. Both told me they no longer helped Comcast customers to call Comcast.

I tried going to the Security section in Comcast to download the uninstall and couldn't download. I had no problem downloading anything before got that Java 7 update and was blocked from doing so. I did scans, XP Diagnostics, etc. No viruses or malware was found just tracking cookies.

I went into Norton from system tray and did file cleaner, optimization, and to registry cleaner. Did CCCleaner too. Still couldn't download. Went to Event Viewer. Found errors of: 1) Constant Guard Anti-Spyware not found. File not found. 2) MATS Service failed.

Do not know what MATS is am 63 and only been on a computer for past 10 years. I posted this problem both in Comcast forum and Microsoft, since had trouble with an update from them. I went to Control Panel-add//remove programs and uninstalled Constant Guard Protection Suite. Still not working. (downloading)

Got another email from Comcast stating files were probably left behind and to also uninstall Guarded ID. I finally used my Revo Uninstaller program and uninstalled everything Constant Guard including the ID, registry keys, files and folders. Still cannot download. Now what?
