General discussion

cannot download older versions of Solitaire

Feb 11, 2010 10:19AM PST

We have been trying for several weeks, maybe months, to download an older version of Solitaire (from CNET or anywhere). The recent versions are TOO HARD for older persons like us. When we try and download the older versions the NEW one ALWAYS downloads (2009 versions). We don't want 2009 versions. Help!!!! Frustrated beyond comprehension!

Which one(s)?

There are literally hundreds of different Solitaire games available for download, so it is important to specify which one (exact name/version, developer, product page link, etc) it is that you are looking for.

Let us know.

specifically 123 free solitare http://www.123freesolitaire.com/, and also Cnet http://download.cnet.com/1770-20_4-0.html?query=solitaire&tag=srch&searchtype=downloads&filterName=platform%3DWindows%2CWebware&filter=platform%3DWindows%2CWebware downloads of the same. When you try to download older versions like "solitare 2003" and 2004 from these sites, what comes down in the download is solitaire 2009 v.7.0--everytime, everytime! It says, I am not blind, that you are downloading soliatire 2004, but when it hits your desktop it is not!!!! please try the following also, where I just downloaded solitaire 2004 and ended up with v. 7.0. Feel like I am hitting my head against a wall.

Regarding those sources...

-> Cnet Downloads only offers the latest version supplied by the developer, which is the 2009 version (v7) in this case. Here, the version is clearly defined.

-> The developer's website (http://www.123freesolitaire.com) just lets you download the file from Cnet.

-> The FreeDownloadCenter is a red-flagged site for potentially malicious activity. They advertise the 2003 version, but link to another third-part site, which is only offering the 2009 release.

You can try asking the developer for the older version, but otherwise you may be out of luck.

Sorry.
