Cannot delete unwanted files

May 10, 2004 9:43AM PDT

A number of sites have put undesired folders on my hard drive and they appear on my Favorites list. I have sent them to recycle and have deleted them there- numerous times. However, within a few minutes, they reappear on the hard drive and the Favorites list.I have used Spybot and Ad ware but these programs have not shown their sources. Using Windows 98 upgrade, Would appreciate any advice. Thanks

Mejuja,

Sounds like spyware....and it would help if we knew which sites are being placed in your Favorites...

In addition to Tufenuf's good advice, be sure to check the "Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs" section for any programs that may have been installed without your knowledge. Some spyware types can be removed from Add-Remove Programs.

After following all of the advice and if you still have problems, then you can download the Hijackthis program, (You'll need an unzipper program to unizip it), then run it, then post the log in a forum which specializes in deciphering the log. Below are links for both:

HijackThis Download Page (Scroll to the middle of the page)

Direct Download Link For HijackThis

Hope this helps.
