the message is about the target folder? From what I read it's about the source file that's in use. Can you copy that same source file to another location on the hard disk? And from there to the external?
I hope someone can help me with this problem. It has bedeviled me for a few weeks now. Some time ago I got a new laptop and tried to copy some files from this laptop to my old external hard drive. When I tried to do this I got a message stating "Cannot copy file: Access is Denied. Make sure file is not write protected or in use". For reference, I am able to see all the folders on that external drive and copy files from that drive to my laptop, but not the other way. Also, the strange thing is that I am able to perform the copy function to the eternal drive if I boot my laptop in "safe" mode"
To check permissions, I right-clicked on the drive in windows explorer, and saw that the administrator (me) is allowed full access to the that drive. Also, I have unchecked "use simple file sharing"
Any help is appreciated.
