Question

Cannot connect to wifi but can can connect through Ethernet

by shenka84 / May 15, 2016 3:15 PM PDT

I lost my network signal a few days ago. I cannot access wifi but can connect through ethernet cable with no issues. I tried to see if there was a firmware update for my Linkys but it was not available. I got a new router Belkin and it does the same thing. I am not able to coneect to wifi after set up but have no problem to do it through Ethernet cable.

Are you writing that more than one device can't do WiFi to either router?

I'm not there to see your setup but I did make a call and the owner thought the antennas were bad looking and optional on the router.

None of my laptops or cell phones are able to connect to Wifi. However, when I plug Ethernet cable to my laptop, it works just fine. I got a new router today that acts the same way as the old one. So, I am not sure how can I fix it.

This needs more detail. I can't tell if your devices see the SSID you used or you get kicked out at the password step.

Every time I kept getting an error message for incorrect password. Now, the message says "Wi-Fi has the self-assigned IP address 169.254.169.52 and will not be able to connect to internet

For a test run, setup the WiFi with no security. Does it work?

Also, get a link for the router's manual so I can read it and refer to it.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
