Cannot connect to LAN or WLAN with my Compaq presario 1500

Sep 21, 2004 7:44AM PDT

I have a compaq presario 1500 with a NIC card and a Wireless card. I cannot connect to the internet wireless or through a cable. All my computers can connect to the internet from the router wireless and through a cable except for this one. I scanned my computer with adaware and Norton antivirus and it says nothing is wrong. Is there any way i could fix it.

You neglected the forum tip, so I can only share "generic answers".

1. Look up LSPFIX on google.com and what it does.
2. Consider that I expect this for some laptops that:

a. Have an OS installed off a Windows Retail CD.
b. Windows 98 and the Wifi card wanted 98se

There's more, but details in your post are very slim.

The OS is windows xp pro and the os came with the laptop. The Card was working before and after i installed direct x 9 and Evil Genius demo it stopped working.

Now it's more likely that some hardware has failed or someone changed a setting in the Wireless Access Point.

I'd uninstall that wifi card and try a new one of the same make as the WAP.

I had simillar trouble with wireless connections, and everything seemed to check out OK. One clue I got was that it sometimes connected when the screen-saver ran.
The fix was to right-click the screen and change the display properties APPEARANCE to windows classic style.
I remember doing this once before to fix a problem.
