And not native to the Windows OS. For the G7 did you go to your product web page and see if they updated the app that does this?
I think it's the HP software framework which notes " Fixes an issue where the volume and brightness onscreen display is visually distorted when certain hotkey combinations are used."
It's at http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-g7-Notebook-PC-series/5145712/model/5186422
Under the title "Software-Solutions (1)
HP Software Framework"
Good luck.
Hello, I updated to Windows 10 during the free upgrade period last summer and while I didn't notice it at first, I could not change the brightness of my display. The hotkeys do not work to change it (but work for volume) and I cannot seem to find anywhere in settings to adjust the brightness as I used to be able to do. I have searched many forums and tried every solution I could find with no success, I have updated my drivers, rolled them back, uninstalled them, checked the bios, switched display adapters, disabled adaptive brightness and tried downloading troubleshooters from HP without any success. It is tough on my eyes late at night to work on a screen stuck at full brightness and I would greatly appreciate any help, Thanks! I have an HP Pavilion G7 product number: QE129UA#ABA running Windows 10
