Question

Cannot Change Display Brightness After Upgrade to Windows 10

Aug 9, 2016 8:28AM PDT

Hello, I updated to Windows 10 during the free upgrade period last summer and while I didn't notice it at first, I could not change the brightness of my display. The hotkeys do not work to change it (but work for volume) and I cannot seem to find anywhere in settings to adjust the brightness as I used to be able to do. I have searched many forums and tried every solution I could find with no success, I have updated my drivers, rolled them back, uninstalled them, checked the bios, switched display adapters, disabled adaptive brightness and tried downloading troubleshooters from HP without any success. It is tough on my eyes late at night to work on a screen stuck at full brightness and I would greatly appreciate any help, Thanks! I have an HP Pavilion G7 product number: QE129UA#ABA running Windows 10

I have tried looking

for drivers on the HP webpage but none of the ones I installed helped and the HP Software Framework driver did not fix the issue either. I did notice that they only had a dropdown for windows 7 and 8; not windows 10. Sorry for the late response and Thank you for your help!

I'm sorry but to me this is not a driver in a strict sense.

It's an app that adds functions to the overall system.

These apps may be noted for a prior Windows and you learn to try them anyway.

Hp.com has a chat feature so try that and ask which download you need to restore the hotkey features. I'd help but I don't own or have access to that model HP.

Are you saying the brightness adjust is not in the power control app?

Some folk hate calling. I can understand that but I don't have your machine to try things on.
