Question

Cannot burn my DRM ( Protected Files ) songs !

I have an iMac. I recently updated my x OS from
Maverick to Yosemite ( 10.10.1 ). Since then I can't burn my
iTunes DRM songs. I estimate 200 out of my favorite 1700
songs are listed as DRM ( Protected Music Files ). When I
click on "Create New Version" a pop up message says
"Protected files cannot be converted to other formats".
I'm trying to convert to AAC files. Another iTunes message
says "DRM cannot be burned to MP3 CD". ( and of course the DRM cannot be burned to AAC also ). Can anyone help?

(NT) I've read that you can still make AudioCD and re-rip those.

When making an Audio CD,

you do not convert the track to anything beforehand.

Just select the tracks and hit the burn button. This will, at least it always has done on my iTunes, burn a copy of the tracks which will then be DRM free.

Of course, Apple was not the only ones applying DRM to their tracks, perhaps wherever you purchased those from had a different DRM version applied.

That would be a first

Even on DRM tracks I never encountered tracks I could not select and make an AudioCD. However maybe you are trying to avoid use of the AudioCD media. That could have you writing what you wrote.

You can burn music to disc through finder/music/itunes media/music. but I'm pretty sure apple won't let you rent movies/music and then burn them to keep them. its a new world. Piracy is out.
