Cannot burn any kind of CDs and DVDs

by MacaEx / April 2, 2007 7:50 AM PDT

I own an Alienware Area 51 m766 system with Windows XP SP2. I updated Nero 6 to the latest version and it's stops burning after a few seconds without explaining the error. I tried with other burning software and does the same. Nero support told to try different brand of CD, to install Nero 7 and nothing works. They even suggested to update the burner firmware but Alienware recomends not to because I can permanently damage the burner.
It worked fine until I updated Nero 6.
I'll appreciate any help you can give me.

Re-install to the original software that worked. If it no longer works, that's a good sign that the drive is faulty.

If you suspect that the Nero upgrade
by lacsr / April 3, 2007 9:17 PM PDT

is at fault, use "System Restore" back to before the Nero upgrade was installed.
Also, if you changed the brand of media you are using, or even same brand but a different source, it may be the media. While upgrading the firmware may solve the problem, if nothing else has changed, it probably will not help. Firmware changes are usually for better write strategies for newer media types.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
