Cannot Auto-Address New Outlook 2003 E-Mails :
That is ? when I create a new e-mail and click on ?To? I get the following error message:
?! The address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted, or you do not have permissions. For information on how to remove this folder from the Outlook Address Book, see Microsoft Office Outlook Help.?
My desktop computer went kaput recently and I?m now using my laptop. I did all internet/e-mailing on the desktop. I hadn?t used the laptop for internet/e-mailing since I left NY last June to live in PA. I?ve since changed my ISP from @nyc.rr.com to @comcast.net and I made this adjustment, first to the desktop, and then to my laptop when the desktop failed. Both computers have a legal, registered copy of Outlook 2003.
Just before the desktop went down, I had backed up my desktop Outlook.pst file to an external HD. On the laptop I first deleted the old message folders and moved the Outlook.pst file to another drive. I then restored the desktop Outlook.pst file to my laptop?s Outlook 2003.
On the laptop I now receive new e-mails OK and I can reply to received e-mails. But, when I try to address a new e-mail by clicking on ?To?, I get the aforementioned error message.
Where did I so obviously go wrong ? and how can we resolve this? In layperson?s terms please ? I?m not a computer geek by any stretch.
