Cannot access My Pictures

by BreezieTN / December 28, 2009 10:56 PM PST

I have XP and use IE as my browser. All my photos are saved in Picasa 3. Whenever I want one as an attachment for email, I click on My Pictures and choose from there. I accidentally must have clicked something when downloading from my camera which has caused this function to disappear. So far, nothing I have tried has brought it back with the exception of a few folders of older pictures. All my pictures in Picasa have remained intact.

What exactly disappeared?
by Kees Bakker / December 28, 2009 11:51 PM PST

You want to attach a picture, so in your mail to click on the paperclip and browse to My Pictures. What happens next?

Now go into My Computer, browse to your My Pictures folder and look what's inside. What do you see?

can olny access a few pics
by BreezieTN / December 29, 2009 6:15 AM PST

To back track a bit, I download from my camera to Picasa 3. In doing so, I apparently clicked something that caused this problem, as that's when 'My Pictures' disappeared. it could not be seen under My Documents, My computer, or anywhere else it would normally be.
In and attempt to search and find it, I now have been able to get 'My Pictures' when I click the paperclip, but only a fraction of my total pics are there. My Pictures does not appear under My Computer.

How many users are configured
by peacox / December 29, 2009 3:18 PM PST

If you have more than one user configured on your system, each one of them has their own folder called My Pictures and the contents of each one may be different. You may be downloading your photos from your camera to one version of My pictures and then looking for them in another users version of My Pictures.
Picasa does not contain any pictures, it only contains pointers to pictures in all of the My Pictures folders under each of the user names configured.
To locate a picture, open picasa and select a picture, right click on it and select 'locate on disc' from the dropdown menu. A new window will open showing the selected picture and the address bar will contain the full path name to the picture from this you should be able to locate all your missing pictures.
Hope This Helps.

Further to my previos
by peacox / December 29, 2009 3:25 PM PST

Picasa holds pointers to all pictures wether they are in My Pictures or not.
If the window that opens when you select locate on disk does not have an address bar, right click in the blank space to the right of the Help item in the menu bar and tick address bar in the drop down menu.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
