cannot access display in sys. pref.

When I try to select display in system pref. the display window will open and then close without letting me make any changes. How do I fix that.
Thanks, Ron

If repairing permissions doesn't help, try moving out onto the Desktop, then open System Preferences(SP) and see if Displays lets you make changes.

If all is good, Trash the plist file from the Desktop. You just made a new one when you opened SP.

You should find that file in Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences
