Cannot access Desktop Pc via Wi-Fi.

I have a Sony Vaio SZ-110 laptop with Windows Xp as OS.
I was used to access my Desktop PC via Wi-Fi all the time.

You can't format a laptop. You can only format a partition on a drive (a USB-stick, a diskette, a hard disk).
Formatting a partition is totally emtpy. What did you do after formatting it?

Let me guess: you reinstalled Windows XP, but you didn't install the right protocols, give it a correct workgroup name or enable filesharing. That's kind of half work. Why not finish it?
