Try going manual and push up the speed and pan with the movement to capture the person you want to not blur.

Can anyone help me on how to take good action shots with this camera.. I always seem to blurr the action of the subject

Entry-level compacts are no speed-busters; two issues: autofocus and shutter lag, which could easily add up to half-a-second. That is a lot of time lost when shooting action. Plus, this model has a CCD chip that is inferior to CMOS - someone likened them to tortoise vs. hare, and that paints a picture.
Apart from manually boosting speed and increasing ISO (it goes up to 1600, but you need to look for an acceptable compromise to avoid grain), try shooting wide. If you can at all, get closer to the subject instead of zooming in. Also, read the manual and see what modes the Smart Auto offers you; surely there will be Sports/Action or similar - have you tried them?
With some cameras, some shots simply cannot be had. One just has to live with the limitations, or spend more money on a tool that will do the job.
