Cannon Super Shot 2 vs. Panasonic DMC FZ 7

I have beenlooking at the Cannon Super Shot S2, and then found the Panasonic DMC FZ7 a 6mp camera for the same price. I need help picking the right one. When was the Panasonc was released.

FZ7 and S2 IS

The Panasonic FZ7 is new and was announced Jan 23, 2006

A Canon S3 IS was just introduced on Feb 21, 2006 and is 6 megapixel. I don't think it is in the stores yet.
