Canadian InfoLink Weather WAAAYYY off

Feb 14, 2009 12:34AM PST

I know that the weather man is often wrong, but the Yahoo weather feed for Canada is so far off anything accurate that it is completely useless. The actual forecast today for Saskatoon is -17 Celcius, but Info-Link says it is going to be plus 5 Celcius. Since I got Info-Link working 3 weeks ago, the weekly and daily forecasts have been no better, just pure fantasy.

I just thought I should pass this along in case you are collecting user information that could be used when you are considering renewing or changing your RSS feed partner in the future. I vote a big NO on the current one.

Daggodag,

Thanks for the feedback. This is useful information.

In the future models, we will be incorporating Widgets, so that users aren't necessarily dependent on Samsung partnerships, but what independent organizations would like to offer. Someone might write a widget program, say, specifically for Canada weather, and be able to organize a better system.

I regret that we don't have quality control measures for these kinds of issues, but we're dependent on the information those partnerships provide.

Infolink weather on Samsung 850

Your reply to Dogdaddy says that you will be incorporating changes into future models, but what can be done about the current models? I live in Saskatoon as well, and have found that Yahoo weather is wildly inaccurate as well. Is there a chance that they might be persuaded to get their proverbial act together as your partner or will there be a firmware change for the tv to accept the widgets approach when it becomes available?

Good point...

valmarjohnson,

You make a good point. I've seen this issue a few times, and I'm submitting an inquiry. I'm not sure what the answer is for this, but I'll bring this to the attention of our partnership manager.
