Can you purchase just Windows DVD Maker?

Feb 7, 2007 12:21AM PST

I am using Windows Vista Business Edition, and want to be able to make DVD's from my home camcorder movies. However, Vista Business Edition doesn't have the Windows DVD Maker. Anyone know if I can just purchase the Windows DVD Maker, or do I have to upgrade to Vista Ultimate? My choices seem to be spend $79 for Nero 7 or upgrade to Vista Ultimate for $139....neither of which I really want to spend the money on. I was hoping to just be able to purchase the Windows DVD Maker for cheaper ($20 or so would be nice), or if you have any alternate solutions for free that would be even better!

What came with your burner?

They usually come with a gratis version of some software.

There are a number of free ones, maybe do a forum search for the subject. Just that this writer reads about them but has no need for any.

I got Nero 6 OEM with the DVD burner
Feb 7, 2007 5:06AM PST

I got a watered down OEM version of Nero 6 which I had to purchase a DVD Plug-In for before Nero would even work with DVD's. Now that I upgraded to Vista, Nero 6 is not compatable with Vista.

Try this

Nero offers a thirty day trial of Nero 7. It works the same as the full version. I have been running it for 3 months. Just use a different email address each time. And burn everything you can think of. P.S. Windows DVD Maker is crap don't spend 20 bucks on it you'll be disapointed

same problem
Mar 3, 2012 10:13PM PST

I had the same problem. Bought the "Windows DVD Maker" -http://www.windows-dvd-maker.com/

this is not the Microsoft version we know and love. Doesn't work - was a scam - don't want anyone else to get fooled the way I was. I learned my lesson.

I love MICROSOFT Windows DVD Maker, and had the same problem - it wasn't on my Vista Business Edition. I wish there was a way to get it from Microsoft,... I don't want anyone to get scammed the way I was. The money goes to China - Yunbo Yuan and good luck getting it back.
