Can you help me find missing emails, please?

Sep 30, 2013 8:20PM PDT

We turned on WLM yesterday and found that all our previous emails have disappeared (from all 3 of our accounts). New emails are still coming through, and we can send them, too.
We have WLM Version 2011 (Build 15.4.3555.030Cool. Any suggestions, please?
PS. Am novice, so need simple advice, if poss!!

Re: WLM missing emails

Maybe you took your precautions and have those WLM mail boxes included in your regular backup? For some reason, some people don't and then - when something happens - they lose their mails. No better lessons about backup than experiences like this.

I'd start looking in my store folder (see http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/change-email-folder-location-in-windows-live-mail/) to search for these files (use My Computer or Windows Explorer for that). If they are deleted for some reason, I'd check the Windows recycle bin to see if I can get them back.
That's simple enough?

it's possible that by accident the store folder was changed in WLM, so it now points to the wrong Windows folder. Then you see nothing while all your old mail folders are still safe in the old location. Then simple change the store folder in WLM back to the correct location. Of course, only you know what that correct old location was (maybe the default?).
Use the search function in Windows Explorer to find them. From your current inbox you know the filename.
