Question

Can you have desktop non-wifi and laptop wifi?

Nov 4, 2011 4:04AM PDT

I want to use my desktop with my router as a non-wifi machine, but need to connect my laptop as wifi so I can use it around the house. Is this possible? If so, how?
I have a Ubee D3.0 router for my desktop.

Yes.

Use a Ethernet cable to connect your desktop. Use wireless for your laptop.

I've never seen a consumer grade router without at least for Ethernet slots for a wired connection. But I didn't look up the specs of your router.

The Ubee D3.0 router is NOT a router, it is ...

just a modem.

What you need to do is get yourself a wireless router and connect it to the modem and your desktop then configure it for wireless as well as your laptop.
