from a fresh, legal, full copy of XP. Format and reinstall from there.
I had my 'puter in a pawn shop as I had an emergency but I was late in piking it up and although I managed to get it back it did not have the 'ghost' reboot disks with it - I am wondering if I can just go into DOS and reformat it and then put a 'normal' copy of xp on it.
Would this work or would the computer not recognise the disk I have as I know that you cannot put another disk, other than the e-machine disk, into the drive to re-input the programmes into it.
If I cannot re-format the hard-drive as above can I get a cheap e-machines disk (my machine was bought new but it is a good few years old now and I do not have the receipt.
I this is clear enough and I hope someone can give me advice
