General discussion

Can you buy just a phone? I already have Nextel Plan.

Jun 10, 2005 11:59PM PDT

I already have Nextel service and I just want to buy a new phone. But everywhere I find phones to buy, you have to buy the service plan for that carrier. Or at Nextel they charge you an arm & a leg to upgrade your phone! It's crazy...
Can anyone help?

If you want a new Nextel phone, you have to either buy it directly from Nextel or purchase at retail price directly from Motorola. No other carrier's phones work with Nextel.

Ok.

I think I need to rephrase. What I'm looking for is a retailer that sells phones only...not a plan attached. There are tons of websites that sell Motorola phones, but you have to purchase a plan from them in order to buy the phone! I just want a newer phone without paying $300 for it...I think what I'm trying to do is impossible! New Nextel customers don't have to pay $300 for the same phone...so why should I?
