Can Windows 7 64-bit and Windows 98SE exist on same PC?

Jul 27, 2010 4:10AM PDT

I have several Win98 Apps that I need to keep running because there are no Win7 drivers. So . . . can I successfully dual boot these two OS's? A colleague tried. Windows 7 works fine but when trying to run Win98 got BSOD! Is this due to Win7 being 64-bit? Can I install the OS's on separate HDD's? Thanks for any help/education on this issue.

Unlikely.

There are big issues with today's machines from too much ram to too big hard disks to no drivers for the machine USB ports and so on.

Why not look into Virtual Box and if said thing is USB we're done.

If you can find

If you can find drivers for Win98, then I don't see why not, but finding Win98 drivers for any hardware made in about the last 5-6 years is going to be next to impossible.

Compatibility Mode?

Have you tried running these Windows 98 applications in Windows 7, under compatibility mode?

If possible, you don't need Windows 98.
