Question

Can TV remote control time warner box?

Feb 12, 2015 1:53PM PST

I'm currently trying to set up my little system to run on one remote. The one that came with my 6 series Samsung LED. Is it possible to control my Time Warner Cable box to change the channel and bring up the guide showing all the TV shows, with the Samsung remote? Cause if it is I haven't figured out how to make it work. I've done the basic setup through the TV and it says it recognizes the cable box etc. but I still can't change the channel with the remote. I'm running my set up like this. TV has HDMI cord going to Samsung soundbar hw550 z/a the have a HDMI cord running to cable box. Please advise how to get this stuff working right so I can control all with Samsung remote. Thank you

but the Verizon TV settop box I have comes with a remote which can be set for 4 devices. I can control my TV, my settop box, my DVD and my VCR with it. Everytime I need to change it, such as VCR replacement, I have to consult the instructions though. I also have a "One For All" that controls all 4 devices, it's a universal type remote. You might consider such a universal remote if yours doesn't have 3-4 buttons at the top to switch between devices. Here's one I set for my Dad to use while he was still living, a nice big button, easy for him.

Check out the models and the code sheet. It's not too difficult to do.

Model code for tv

The model code is un48h6350afxza the sound bar model is hw-h550 za. I also was trying to figure out why when I turn the tv on the sound bar always is on the d.in setting. I have it running through HDMI but once I turn the TV off and back on its like the sound bar resets and doesn't turn on being on the HDMI setting. The TV screen says ( check that the device is connected properly, then try turning on the device by selecting the button below and it shows the stb button?

Thanks for the info! The unit will default to D.IN, once the unit recognizes the ARC it will switch over automatically. Also because of the way that you have it set up make sure you have the cable box, blu-ray player, and other external devices connected directly to the television.

As for setting up the universal remote, I do believe that this article with be of assistance, http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber/popup/iframe/pop_troubleshooting_fr.jsp?idx=437405&modelname=UN48H6350AF&modelcode=UN48H6350AFXZA

Hope this helps!
