General discussion

can the iRiver clix gen2 play avi. files?

Oct 2, 2007 4:45AM PDT

i'm thinking of buying the iRiver clix gen2.. but on their specs.. they only say that it can play mpeg4 and WMV9 videos...

so i'm not sure if it plays avi files (by only drag and drop from the computer)... and if it doesn't.. it will be a very big pull back for me..

if it doesn't play by drag and drop.. does the package include a convert programme that is able to convert avi. videos?

please and thankyou for your help!!

The one paragraph primer on AVI files.

AVI files are a "container" of AV content and does not specify how the video is "encoded." Therefore no player made so far will play all .AVI files. The question and it's answer is not as simple as a yes or no.

"does the package include a convert programme that is able to convert avi. videos?"

Check the reviews but beware that not all AVI files can be converted since a "CODEC" could be required that you don't have.

how can u figure out if the video file is divx/xvid?

so does this mean that the mpeg4 codec includes certain avi. files?

so is there a way to make most video files to be able to work on the clix?

try it

Try it first, if the video file doesn't work you can use PocketDivXEncoder
