Can't use application without switching user

For several years I've been using a free program downloaded from Avery.com called DesignPro 5.4 Limited Edition and never had a problem.

About a week ago, I downloaded the program from Avery to a temporary folder on my desktop and burned it to a CD for my wife to install on another computer at work. I then deleted the download from my desktop. (I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the problem I'm having.)

Ever since, when I try to use the original application, I get the message that says "DesignPro has encountered a problem and needs to close". I click the box to notify Microsoft.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the application 3 times, once from the CD I burned and twice from the avery.com download. I also tried rebooting and used the "revert back to when everything worked" feature. I have run Ad Aware and my antivirus software....all ok. Still have the problem.

I called Avery's help desk and after removing and reinstalling the application again, the customer service rep told me to switch users.
This makes the program work properly, but is a nuisance since there are usually other apps running at the same time.

I'm guessing this is a registry problem, but scared to fool around with it. I've run out of ideas and would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks!!!

If the program runs as another user, it could be your user account is corrupt or some settings attached to it for this specific program are corrupt. When you uninstall a program, it doesn't necessarily remove user preference information from the user accounts. You might be able to find these yourself and delete them after uninstalling the program. They will be somewhere in Documents and Settings, your user account, and applications. There may also be traces in the temporary folder in your user account. Delete all of that manually and try to reinstall the program but do so as "the" administrator and, if prompted to allow access by all users say "yes". If that doesn't work and you can still run it as another user, it might be necessary to just run it as it will allow or create for yourself a new account and copy all of your documents into it.

I just opened your email but haven't tried your suggestions yet. I'm sure that I can make a new user profile if the other fixes don't work.
