Good Luck,
Tufenuf
I'm running WinXP Pro on an HP laptop i got a few months ago. I installed the trial version of System Mechanic 6 Pro, everything was fine, I was happy. Then the trial period expired, I didn't want to buy it, and..it wouldn't uninstall. When I try to, the uninstall options appear-uninstall sysmech, " " anitivirus, " " firewall. i didn't install the antivirus or the firewall. So, I click on the uninstall button and an error message comes up: File C:\Program Files\iolo\System Mechanic Professional 6\unins000.dat" does not exist. Cannot uninstall.
I've looked everywhere inside the sysmech 6 folder and...apparently there's a file that's called unins000.
this is getting kind of long, but to explain, I also installed sysmech 5 pro as a trial. when i try to uninstall it i have to find a file named 'INSTALL', which is for some reason inside the 'search and recover' folder. after I locate the file, i can uninstall sysmech 5 if i want to. I tried moving the file to the sysmech 6 folder but it said that there already was a file named unins000 and asked if i wanted to replace it. I didn't want to do anything potentially stupid, so i said no.
I got 'Your Uninstaller' and tried force uninstalling. the sysmech 6 icon was removed from the 'Y.U.' list but i clicked on the shortcut still on my desktop an it WORKED.
HELP!!! SYSTEM MECHANIC IS STILL ANALYZING MY SYSTEM ALL THE TIME AND TAKING UP RAM I CANT SPARE!!!
..thanks for any help
