I do appreciate your responses which has have helped me in other areas. I just can't get this #$%$^% to shutdown.

WinME shutdown issues
Mar 29, 2004 6:23AM PST

Well, I'll be honest here, Windows ME itself is probably the issue. I had this problem every single day of the 2 months I had WinME installed. Once the computer monitor goes dark and the computer hangs, you will not hurt the computer by using the power button. If you want to get rid of this problem, you're best bet is to upgrade to WinXP Pro or Win2000 depending on the type of software you want to run. WinXP Home is ok as well but there seems to be some driver issues with newer equipment.
