i have a dual hdd toshiba p200 laptop. primary hdd is a Toshiba MK1237GSX ATA that came with pre-installed windows vista home premium, and the second hdd is a Hitachi HTS541612J9S00 ATA.
i had ubuntu installed on the second hdd, and it wrote over the MBR. so to delete it i used a program called "BootIt NG" which let me set the standard MBR back to windows and delete ubuntu.
now i have an empty 2nd hdd on which i want to install windows xp pro, but when i boot from the xp cd it won't recognize any of my hdd's.
i've read through the forum and i know that others have this problem since xp has no sata support, and they cant install over vista, but i think my hdd's are ata, and my 2nd hdd is empty. (no os on it) and yet it still can't be found.
i dont have any option in my bios to edit/change "sata/ata" settings either.
did i mess something up when i uninstalled ubuntu using bootit ng?
one thing i should mention is that when i boot up vista it recognizes my 2nd hdd, i have it formated to ntsb and i can use it as a storage device.
any advice on how i can install xp on my 2nd hdd so that i run vista on my primary and xp on my secondary?
