Can't save jpg internet image

by dwacorn / January 29, 2004 1:06 AM PST

I only see "untitled" for filename and bmp
extension as my option. I did go to WinXP, Tools, Folders Options and reset to Default, but no change. I also did system Restore, and no effect. Thanks.

This is a unresolved limitation in IE. When the Temporary Internet Files reach some number or size, the SaveAs is always BMP.

Fix? Clear the Internet Cache.

Try saving the file with whatever name you want, then follow it with jpg as an extension. Make sure you have the Hide Extensions unchecked from Folder Options.

If you happen to be using the AOL browser when trying to save and only get .art or BMP then you need to make sure you have the never compress graphics setting ticked in AOL. In 8.0 it's settings, preferences, settings, AOL browser and for 9.0 I don't know so you have to fish around for the setting.
