All the discussions never suggest a new driver. Did you google this one? It is not a driver or drive issue.
As to the restore issue, if the drive has failed to boot the restore media you have to fix that first.
Hi, I am unable to restore my Packard Bell imedia computer and would be grateful for any help or advice.
As the computer had started to go slowly I restored the system to Factory Defaults using Packard Bell Recovery Management programme (using recovery partition not discs).
The system had a 250GB C drive and a 250GB D "Data" drive in addition to a recovery partition drive. Everything appeared to complete successfully and I subsequently created another partition from the D drive. I allocated this new partition Drive E and changed the DVD to Drive B - I subsequently learned that the DVD has to be after the C Drive (I suspect this is my problem).
Now DVD doesn't work. It doesn't appear in My Computer and Device Manager lists the drive with a yellow exclamation mark showing error code 19. I have tried updating drivers, uninstalling drivers, disabling and re-enabling device and unplugging DVD then re attaching - no difference.
I tried to do system restore to the earliest point available (which would have been Windows Service Pack 1) but this will not complete with error code - 0x8007005 (despite disabling antivirus software).
I thought I would just have to reperform the recovery from the partition as I had done previously however this time I get the error message "Hardware drive configuration is not set to factory default. Restore aborted." I thought this may be caused by my earlier partitioning of the D drive so I deleted new partition E and remerged it with D. I tried Recovery management again but got the same result.
I have tried starting up with Alt and F10 but get error - NAPP_KM:NAPP7.exe - Application error. Unknown software exception (0xc000000d).
I do have recovery discs however without a working recognised DVD player I can't use them.
Everything does appear to work perfectly apart from the absence of a DVD drive. I either need to repair the DVD or be able to complete a fresh reinstallation.
I would be very grateful if anyone could advise me how I can correct this problem.
Many thanks and Merry Christmas.
