Can't report an offensive post

Dec 2, 2006 9:46PM PST

I tried to report this post in Feedback http://forums.cnet.com/5208-7598_102-0.html?forumID=51&threadID=221362&messageID=2337098 I clicked Report and got the CNet Page cannot be found, then got this in my email:

I just tried a test offensive report and
Dec 2, 2006 10:06PM PST

also got the "page can't be found thing" BUT also DID receive the offensive report test via e-mail just as I did the one that Wayne sent. SO the reports are actually going out but whoever reports it does not know because CNET goes to the "Page can't be found thingie".

Glad it wasn't just me again. One wonders if Lee or the gurus will read this.

It might be...

In the Bugs thread I reported that when submitting a mod alert the e-mail would be sent but the page would continue to hang for a while before confirming the e-mail was sent. (I could check my e-mail, read the mod alert, and then return to the submission form and it would still be waiting.) Lee had the eningeers investigate, so it could be them monkeying behind the scenes attempting to fix the bug I found. If that's the case, sorry everyone. Happy

Aside from that, the bounceback was just a result of Rick's spam filters rejecting the message...they still went through to the rest of us. Sad Grin

it's happened before

mail refused SPF

as alerts go out to all the mods, any mod whos' server is down, or has an anti-this-or-that policy will bounce the alert (and sometimes it bounces to the 'alerter' as well

the second point raised: "page not found"... some mods will delete a post without sending an offensive post alert, (and if it happens seconds/minutes after the -Waynes- alert, the post can be seen but is 'officially' deleted...
