Can't remove startup

by LiveAndLearn / January 22, 2005 2:08 PM PST

Hi all,

I read the special topics on forum about removing startup program and got very excited to try it out.

I have uninstalled Civilisation III a few months ago and as I looked at my list of startups in my System Configuration Uitlity i spotted a Civilisation exe file in my startup list. Imaging how surprised i got. Nasty beeswax...

Naturally, I unchecked it and restarted my PC. After starting, it says the PC is in a selective startup mode. To fix this, i have to check the item i just unchecked...I'm stumped. Help!

Just a side question. There's a line in my startup list that has no name or command description...A program with no name from the Wild Wild West??? What the...

Thanx in advance

when it says selective startup mode just check the box don't show again and click ok. also wild wild west sounds like a virus or trojan to me. go to and do a free virus scan. or go to and in the antivirus tab on the list get free AVG. antivirus. if you have another antivirus installed update it or it just sucks. don't have 2 antivirus programs at once or you will have problems.
