Question

Can't remove an old Exchange Extension

Dec 14, 2011 1:43AM PST

I corrupted my Windows XP System Registry. While I've cleaned most of it up and have the machine running again, I still get an error when starting MS Outlook 2007; "The Add-in AVG Exchange Extension cannot be loaded and Outlook has disabled it". It looks like the extension is from an old AVG v8. I've removed all versions of AVG and have also used an AVG Tool Remover, and yet I keep getting this message.

Can anyone help?

Answer
Removing AVG addin
Dec 15, 2011 5:11AM PST

Hello rcarotenuti,

Please try to follow all steps described in AVG 2012 (incl. Previous Versions) Uninstall / Re-Install Instructions.

After running remover and restarting also check for existence of any AVG drivers in these folders:
C:\Windows\system32\
Delete any files starting with avgxch (e.g. avgxch32.dll)

Then try to start Outlook again and check that addin is no longer present.
If it is, please disable it as described in link posted by R. Proffitt.

Thank you
