Can't read old DVD's

Nov 22, 2010 2:22AM PST

I have a computer with windows vista, I saved some pictures on a DVD last year. I did a recovery on my hard drive and re-intalled windows vista on my computer; since then my DVD room works fine except when I'm trying to read previously recorded files on DVDs. I can read the files in other computers but I cannot do it on this one after reinstalling Windows vista..

Anyone knows the solution?

Can be proper.

Many folk use drag to DVD recording software. Later they reinstall the OS but forget to reinstall said software. Vista does not know what to do with such media so the options are easy:

1. Install the software that provided said drag to DVD.
2. Research ISOBUSTER.

In addition

In addition to what Bob said, burnable media has a pretty short shelf life, especially if you use lower quality media. Low quality stuff is probably 2-3 years, tops, some of the higher quality stuff is maybe 10 years. Assuming they're stored in fairly ideal conditions.
