Can't play DVD's

I have Media Player 11. It will run CDR-Rs etc but when I insert a DVD-ROM nothing happens.When I RUN-Explore,ther's nothing in the drive so the disc isn't being recognised.Could this be disabled in any way ? Help...

The common cure: replace the drive. They fail occasionally.

Replce the Drive or Driver.Either way I'm no expert is it easy to do ?
If I can still run DVD-R's etc is it the Drive ?

Not too dificult to do yourself. But any local shop can do it also.

While I could suggest a CD/DVD lens cleaner it can cost as much as a new drive. As to replacing the drive that's done by thousands out there so research HOW TO REPLACE A DVDRW DRIVE on google to see if that's what you think you can do.

Then off to Newegg.com, amazon.com to order up your drive and get it done.

PS. I doubt its the drivers. So much doubt that if you ask me how to replace, install drivers I will not answer that.
