Can't open Word attachments in Outlook-application not found

Dec 8, 2005 10:35PM PST

Hi!

I work for a small company that doesn't have a tech support employee. One of my co-workers emailed me with her problem, hoping I could help her fix it. Maybe you can help me? Happy

She works from, home and uses Outlook for her work email, and Outlook Express for her personal email.

Her problem is that she can not open Word attachments from Outlook. She said she can open Adobe attachments but the Word attachments come up with a message that says ?Application not found?. She doesn't have any problem opening Word attachments in Outlook Express, though.

She didn't have this problem initially; it started happening after she hadn't used Outlook for a while (she was on sick leave).

I'd really appreciate any advice! Thanks so much,

Kirsten.

Sounds as if
Dec 9, 2005 1:56AM PST

something has become corrupt in the Outlook installation. The fact that a .doc file can be opened in OE indicates that Word is working OK.

Your friend might try to fix the problem with a "repair installation" from her MS Office CD.

Hope this helps

Frank
