May 24, 2004 3:17AM PDT

When I try to open Outloook 2000 I get this message:

Microsoft Visual c++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error
Program:C:\Program1~\M19933~\Office\Outlook.exe
R6025
Pure virtual function call

If I "x" out the box or hit OK, Outlook closes right
away. I cannot use the program at all.

Search with google Outlook r6025 gives several occurrences of this error (albeit in different circumstances, i.e. doing some - quite normal - things in Outlook, when it runs) where uninstalling and installing Outlook is the solution, like in http://support.microsoft.com/ default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;329934

Moreover
http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?s=ee6265d1a744cfd631c431666f71ecd1&p=197113#post197113 (bottom part) notes other causes (like Sun Java twice installed, or spyware to be removed with Spybot or Adaware) and - more above - advocates using sfc (OS dependent) to restore the c++ runtime library, if that is corrupted somehow. In XP, going back to a system restore point might help.

http://www.salfordsoftware.co.uk/kb/SKB76 notes an error like this caused by an older version of McAfee Anti-Virus (with the cure being to install a newer version).

Reading all of this, I should start with running Spybot, Adaware and online Housecall(latest versions), then uninstall and reinstall Outlook, then use SFC or System restore to go back to the Visual C++ runtime library that came with Windows. Success not guaranteed at all.

Hope this helps.

You will lose your email if you follow these instructions, but it made it work after it recreated the folder hierarchy. Go to C:\Document and Settings\[Username]\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook and remove all contained files. Worked for me. Hope it helps you.

Did you find out what is your problem? I have the same problem, I already scanned it and did all I could. Can you tell me how you solved yours if you did?

Runtime error, R5025 Outlook
Aug 18, 2005 1:45AM PDT

Hi. This is what I did. Since my outlook on a Win 2K works fine, I checked outlook.exe between two OSs, XP vs. 2K. Strangely, the one in Win2K had a time stamp of 6/7/2002 6:30 pm while that of Win XP had the same date but 5:30 pm. So, I copied 2K version to XP. Since then, my outlook on XP is working OK. I suggest you first make a backup copy of the current version before you do anything.

Hope this will work for you too!

The age of the post you replied to?

Thanks for the thought but try posts that aren't so old.
