Some virus/trojans actually disable
Feb 8, 2005 3:26AM PST

antivirus programs. First get a free on-line system scan to make sure that hasn't happened to you...and use the "clean files" option. If a virus is found inside your System Restore files of ME or XP, it won't be able to clean your system until you go back then and disable that feature. When you disable System Restore, it deletes all of the restore points you have, so once you clean the system up, go back and re-enable it so it creates a new restore point for you that's now clean of viruses.

Make sure that you don't have viruses or spyware resident on the machine. Please click on any of the free online virus scanners at the links below:

You can get an online scan for viruses, trojans and variants at any of the following....however, all except one runs with an Active X control and will only work with Internet Explorer. The Trend scan link also includes a link for a Java version that can be run by other browsers such as Firefox.

re Hijack this

Ive been trying to run it. It seems to freeze up before its finished scanning. I tried the older version, also.

At the top of HJT. on the blue strip, it always says "015 - Trusted Zone Enumeration". Looks like thats where it stops. I do not have CoolWWWsearchsmartkiller.

Any thoughts?

...and which operating system are you using?

In addition to following Toni's suggestions, more information about your computer would sure help.
