The Vista you used is the wrong version for the keys on the laptop. Here's why.
The OEM version does not have all the bells and whistles of the retail version (or for that matter the OEM versions you buy on the web.) So the license key is for the restore media for this laptop.
Besides the restore media is far cheaper than the retail license.

Recently my laptop's hard-drive crashed. I bought a new one, re-installed Vista and tried to activate using the KEYS came with my VAIO; however, I can't. The message from Microsoft it that the Keys I entered was used. Please help.
