Can't Make Shortcuts on Desktop

Feb 22, 2004 4:07AM PST

Open up my computer and try to make a shortcut on drives. I get the dialog that tells me it can't make a shortcut here, but put it on the desktop. It does that part fine, but when I click on the shortcut, it tells me the drive has either moved or changed, and then it asks me if I want to delete the shortcut, because it's useless. Never seen this problem before.

Thank You Bob H.

Shortcut for drive.

The first 2/3 of your explanation is correct behavior, but the last third seems odd. I'll ask the question of "what does the properties show for an icon if you make one for the drive D: in this manner, and what happens when it is double-clicked"?

I had to have media in the drive, before I make the shortcut.
