Can't log into Windows XP

Nov 23, 2004 12:17AM PST

I use Windows XP on a notebook. Today I used Ad-Aware and deleted detected items. When I restarted, I could not log into any account. Using Safe-Mode, I could not log in as Administrator either. Instead of logging in, it shows the user logon screen, but when you click a user account, it flashes the desktop background for a split second, says 'saving settings', then shows you the user logon screen again." When I try to use the Restore CD provided by E-Machines, it says that all files on hard drive will be lost (reformats). If I purchase and install the full Windows XP program, will the harddrive files be lost or saved? Also, any suggestions would be most appreciated! Thanks.

No matter which version of XP you use chances are you are going to lose what is on the hard drive. Under the best of circumstances a hard drive is only TEMPORARY storage Facilities, you need to start backing up the work you cannot afford to lose. In this case you might be able to repair XP by using the recovery Console. Good Luck .
