are you trying to log on to?

Provide a URL so we can see what the problem might be.

Often, given the message you indicated, the specific web site's server is down or having problems.

A Couple Of Thoughts..
Dec 5, 2011 11:58PM PST

1. Check to make sure you haven't blocked popups on the browser you're using. Login boxes are frequently a popup type of screen which might be blocked by such programs.

2. Try a different browser such as Firefox to see if it works correctly.. The free Firefox browser can be downloaded from the link below. Install it, then visit your website.

http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

3. Certain types of login boxes require Java to be installed. If you don't have the most recent Java 6 Update 29 installed on your computer, uninstall the old, then install the new. Assuming you have the 32 bit version of Vista, download the "Offline" version for Windows at the link below:

http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

Hope this helps.

You can't login into ANY website? Or just one?
As Grif suggested: does it work in another browser?
Does it work in another Windows account?
if it's one account only: does it work on another PC (it might be a problem on the site)?

It's the only site
Dec 6, 2011 6:29PM PST

When I open my website that I want, it opens, but when I open the secure log in within that page it does not open, it's the page i use to log into the back office, it's called secure login. It's a window within a window .All the other web sites do open. And with that login site that does not open after 20 mins it comes up saying web site is unavailable.

That sounds like work. Time to contact the IT staff and ask them to solve it, because you can't work now. They are much better in solving having your laptop at hand than we are at a distance. They might even know the problem from one of your colleagues.

What you didn't yet tell:
- does it work in another browser?
- does it work in another Windows account?

The worst that can happen is that you have to reload your OS back to factory conditions using the recovery media (that you got or made) or the recovery partition. Then you're back to work in less than an hour.

work with other browser's and Windows Accounts
Dec 8, 2011 7:47PM PST

Yes it does work with other browsers and windows accounts.
What is OS?, and do you mean rocovery media from the DVD software that the computer came with when I bought it? if that's what you mean, how is that done?.

..then your current account seems to be corrupted.. It's time to create a new account and transfer your personal files over to the new account.

Hope this helps.

Can't log in
Jul 21, 2012 4:07AM PDT

I know this guy isn't crazy. I can't login either. When I click the Login on cnet I get a dropdown and when I select login nothing happens. It doesn't even go to the login screen. I have the latest java and pop-ups are enabled for this site.
