The support for the drive is in a service pack or such and not in the base OS CD.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;305098 notes the issue. You "might" be able to put these onto a diskette and feed it to the installer at the right time.
For me, I slipstreamed SP3 and made a new Windows 2000 install CD. Soon I need to make a new 2000 CD with SP4 slipstreamed. Sure wish Microsoft would ship that.
Just bought a new Maxtor 200gig HD, formated and partitioned it using Maxblast however, when I try to load XP Pro, it goes through the setup motions but freezes at "Setup is starting windows". The same thing happens when I try to load Windows2000. I also tried various partition sizes. I ran diags on my memory, system board and cpu and all passed.
What am I doing wrong?
