Resolved Question

Can't install Turbo Cad 3

Mar 12, 2012 12:56AM PDT

Running snow leopard. When I attempt installation I get an error "requires admin privileges." Turbo cad is no help because they conveniently don't support that version any more and want me to upgrade. With a little bit of internet searching I found the solution:

Control click on the installer app icon > show package contents > open resources > installscript.plist in the property editor (just double click on it), and changed "require admin" from "true" to "false".

But when i double click on the .plist file i get an error message:

The document "installscript.plist could not be opened. ccc_helper cannot open files in the "XMLPropertylist" format.

So I need suggestions how to edit the .plist file

FYI: I have textwrangler and it opens the .plist file but it opens it as a text file for the code not as a running app. I need it opened as a running app to toggle true to false. I was able to open it that way with a program called "omni editor" but it required a "license" to work but when I checked on getting a license i got a reply "no license available".

I could be wrong, but,

the instructions you typed in your post do not mention that the app has to be running.

It does require you to edit the plist file, which is really only a text type file, and then run the app.
Somewhere in that plist is the line "Require Admin True" (Words to that effect)
Just use TextEdit, which is the default to open .plist files, and replace True with False.

Now run the installer again.

I have to wonder though, why are you not an Admin on that machine?

i tried that

i can edit the file and change true to false but it won't allow me to place the file with the amended file. As to why the program does not consider me the admin I have no idea. This seems to be an issue of that version of Turbocad and snow leopard. It installed fine when i was running tiger.

Get an external drive,

install Tiger, followed by Turbo Cad 3.

Move Turbo Cad 2 and all its associated files to the Snow Leopard machine
