on how to fix it. Apperantly I guess that the program it came with for vista doesn't install(tried manually installing the program that came with it) but couldn't. So click on the link and it will take you to instructions. You got to download the program from the nvidia website and reinstall it.

How many times?

How many times do I have to download and reinstall the nvidia driver before it will work?

I have done this numerous times. Over and over I see the same two errors originally mentioned in your post.

I have tried v96 v100 v101 (old WQL, current WQL, and BETA) all of them give the same error. Even if I run the installer as Administrator.

I'm just just getting the same quality and speed using the Microsoft installed nvidia driver.

How do I completely remove the Microsoft one and force the Nvidia one to be installed and used?

Thanks

I only had to do it once.

Just followed the instructions and first try with nvidia site instructions it installed. What computer are you trying? Also if vista 32 or 64 bit? And which nvidia you are trying to install? You have to make sure it is the correct program you are going to download.

32

Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit on a Pentium-D 2.8 with 1.5GB DDR2.

Its almost like Windows Vista is not letting me upgrade the driver.

I will try again when I get home, but I really think I may be going back to Windows XP on this machine.

I am kind of a newbie to computers. So not sure what else you can do. I didn't have a problem when I downloaded mine. Hope all works out for you.
