XP SP3 however is. And install errors I encounter are often due to malware, registry cleaners or some protection software. A few times I find the owner is on some limited account.
There's not enough detail here to start troubleshooting.

I have an old gateway computer with XP (about8 years) and am trying to install MS Office 2010 from an external USB cd/dvd drive(Buffalo). When I try the installation it starts out fine but as it goes on it comes up with a statement that an error occured. The first time I attempted the install the computer tried to access a different drive (drive B-the diskette drive) about 15 minutes in to the process. I thought I might have hit some thing and retried - it did the same thing the second time so I disabled drive B hoping this would solve problem. Now when I try I still get error it just does not access drive B now. The USB Drive letter the computer assigned is E and my hard drive is C. How can I get this installation to work. In the past I have used the drive for installing a few things and it worked fine
