Question

Can't install MS Live Writer in VirtualBox

Oct 24, 2011 10:36AM PDT

Because MS Windows Live Writer for XP is available only for XP32 and I run XP64 I tried to install it in VirtualBOX XP32 guesting on XP64.

The program won't install, prompting for an Internet connection, even though the DSL connection is there and IE connects fine.

Any ideas?

Can't install MS Live Writer in VirtualBox
Oct 24, 2011 3:05PM PDT

That's NOT a workaround MY problem.

It requires to install WL on a 32bit system first. Well, that's exactly what I am trying to do in the VirtualBox and it does not let me. I do not have a 32bit system that is not a VirtualBox, if I had it I would not have a problem.

Maybe any other system?

It appears to be an impasse.

"Operating system:
Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (32-bit edition only), Windows Vista (32-bit or 64-bit editions), Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit editions), or Windows Server 2008."

XP64 is the only version not listed.

I know folk that run XP64 are often touchy about this.

Found a xp64 version
Nov 2, 2011 6:34AM PDT

I found online a copy of the WLW which installed and works on XP64. I anll the excitement I forgot to save the link as I usually do.

Unrelated: I have a couple of plugins that seem buggy, any idea if there is any support for plugins? I looed and could not find any.

Actually plugins are the first thing we loo when we have

It's no secret that plugins are often buggy. I would not accept that it's because it's on XP64 that is causing the problem. In fact, when there is trouble with WLW, browsers, Outlook the first thing we try is to take the addons to the loo.

But are they supported by anybody?
Nov 4, 2011 4:13AM PDT

OK, but they are useful so my question was is there anybody to contact and see if the bugs can be fixed?

I can't know that.

Some developers are in the open with contact links or web sites to ask for support or a bug fix.
