Can't install Firefox

by IAmMelinda / August 22, 2009 2:39 AM PDT

OK, I have had it with IE so decided to go ahead and switch to Firefox. Only, I can't. I download and then try to open it to install and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING HAPPENS. It is like an insolent teenager (and believe me I have enough of them around here) who just looks at you like you are invisible. Help please.

Cannot install Firefox.

Hi Melinda.

I take it, like any teenager, Windows says nothing, no error messages?

If so then I suspect malware damage. Tell us about your malware protection regime. Also, which Windows Operating System is this? Is it fully updated with Windows updates?

I would start with Grif's advice on malware removal in his post here;
http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6122_102-0.html?forumID=44&threadID=328528&messageID=2969621&tag=forums06;search-results#2969621

You may want to try downloading and installing on your own computer, but if not, do what Grif says about downloading the software on another computer.

Mark

Go to My computer -> In the address bar type
" ftp.mozilla.org"
Then choose "pub" folder
Then select " firefox" folder
Select " releases " folder
Select the version of the firefox you want from the list of folders
Then choose " Win32" folder
Select " en-US " folder
Now run the executable file called " firefox setup.exe"
This would install the firefox with no problem on your system
