Can't install AVG 2011 Free on Windows 7

Feb 12, 2011 7:19AM PST

I have been trying to reinstall AVG 2011 on a windows 7 64 bit. I uninstalled the previous 2011 when it disappeared and stopped working. I even downloaded the avg uninstaller for 64 bit. I pulled the laptop hard drive and scanned it on my PC. There were a couple of malware viruses. I scanned a second time with none found. I then tried to install AVG with errors at the end. I have looked at most posts but have not found anything that helps. This is my grandsons computer he needs for school. Is there any help? Thank you

Just so we know.

Removing malware never undoes the damage. It's possible the OS is damaged so tell more. If there are boot or AVG errors on install, that may lead to some ideas on how to fix the OS.
